The ‘Manna Mobile’
Many of the homeless and impoverished live in the rural areas of Oceanside. Manna Homeless Society responds by delivering needed provisions.
Thanks to YOU and your donations, we are able to provide free of charge:
• groceries
• a ‘survival pack’: personal care items and some clothing customized for the individual, couple or family
We operate 365 days a year and cover the following areas:
Nanoose Bay, Parksville, Errington, Coombs, Whiskey Creek, Hilliers, Qualicum Beach, Qualicum Bay and Bowser
Bike Program
Bikes can change lives! It can mean getting a job, going to appointments and traveling further distances than walking.
Contact us if you’ve got an adult bike or two ready to move on. We'll fix it up and give it to someone in need.
Wednesdays: Salvation Army Soup Kitchen
Each Wednesday, Manna Homeless Society is able to offer our friends an opportunity to stock up on weekend groceries and a chance to socialize with volunteers who believe in them at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. Our morning begins with a Blessing – a brief example from the Bible that highlights God’s amazing love for all of us.
Then, we offer food and clothing – for all to ‘take what you need’ – with the chance to ‘catch up’ with each other on a week’s worth of activity. For many, our Manna Wednesdays at the Soup Kitchen is a time for forming a community of support – we worry about our friends and they worry about us – and together we know that God loves us.
Manna Chaplaincy Program
Manna Homeless Society has always made it known that the bread of life (Manna) is Jesus Christ and the hope He brings. Volunteers are displaying this love of God to others by providing the necessities of life. Chaplaincy includes speaking the Word of salvation. We are providing food for their bodies and spirituality to their souls.
(Started may 2017)
Many in the homeless community crave this Word but are not prepared to attend church. However, they feel comfortable to meet our community street chaplain on their own turf. Some friendships have been initiated and some very encouraging reports have been forthcoming. This ministry aims to provide spiritual growth, teachings and encouragement to this community.
Contact us if you want to support the Manna Chaplaincy Ministry.
A separate budget has been set aside for those wanting to support this ministry in particular.
